After several setbacks with Cedars-Sinai Hospital, I have switched doctors

and transplant programs and am at UCLA. So far it's going great.

I have my transplant evaluation with UCLA on August 14 - looking

forward to that. It's a 3-4 hour appointment in which I'll meet the

surgeon, a dietician, a psychologist, a financial advisor and the transplant

team nephrologist. It's a rigorous process, but they want to make sure

that whoever is receiving the gift of a kidney is physically and mentally

prepared to care for it.

When I was considering making the switch I discovered that UCLA's

transplant program is ranked in the top 10 while Cedars was at 60!!
